Hello!
Welcome everyone, and thank you so much for being here! Let’s start with a little story about me!
From the beginning, I have always had the love for creating. On a real note, I always struggled with your typical school classes, but art always felt like where I truly belonged. With art it feels like there is no beginning and no end. It’s my escape, it’s my joy, my comfort, and it’s something I know will always be there for me even through rough patches.
Flash forward to high school ~ I loved painting, pottery, making jewelry, and found a love for Interior Design as well. With all these wonderful things to keep me going, I knew one day I wanted to have something of my own to share with my community, and the world. I eventually went to VCU for Interior Design. Although I have so much love for interior design, to be 110% honest I struggled really bad with my mental health through school. I felt I had lost all of myself, and I wasn’t even creating things own anymore. My confidence in my school work, my creations, and in life sank. I used to be so sure of everything I wanted, and my mental health changed a lot of things I was so sure of. Even when I wanted to give up, I pushed through and graduated with my BFA in Interior Design at VCU. After graduation, I took a lot of time for traveling and finding myself again. With the love of my friends, my boyfriend, and family, I started to feel more like myself again. Which then sparked me getting back into my hobbies, and making things again.
Other facts about me!
I have 2 cats, Onyx and Clover. They are my precious babies, and I love them with my whole heart. I am one of 9 siblings, 4 blood, and 5 step siblings between both sides of the family. I absolutely love watching animated movies, something about them are just so nostalgic and cozy to me. When I’m in the car, and 2000’s nostalgic songs come on, I literally feel like I’m in a movie. I take a lot of my inspiration from nature, and the things around me!
About Olive’s Artisans
Olive’s Artisans was actually the start of me getting back into my love of creating! I felt that if I shared my journey of creating things little at a time, it would start to fulfill my long lost passion of making beautiful creations. I wanted to create a safe space, inspiration for others, and bring more creativity to the world!
It really started to pick up for me again when I made almost the entirety of my Halloween costume. Not only did the process of making everything bring me so much joy, but I also realized that I love editing content. Eventually I started to get back into making jewelry, after not really making any since high school. (Fun fact, I originally started learning jewelry from my step-mom at a young age. She used to have her own jewelry business!) I started experimenting with wire wrapped jewelry, and I have never done before, but quickly fell in love with the process. Obviously I can’t just stick with jewelry. Olive’s Artisans is more than just having one niche, it’s about pushing my creative abilities, sharing them with the world, and inspiring other’s to find new things to enjoy!
You will see things from me like jewelry, sewing, needle felting, paper-mache, and I’m sure more things to come! I am so excited to keep growing with you, and building another great community!
My Goal to You and Myself
It is my goal to keep pushing through, and continue to do things that I love. Even when life gets hard. To give you a place where you can escape, and help you keep pushing through. To do things, even when you don’t think you can. Because in a world where there can be so much darkness, to be the one to help it shine again.
It is my goal to always keep creating, learning new things, and seeing how far my abilities can go. To make things that you and I both love! To continue to build a community, and support and grow with each other. I want to make life as beautiful, and whimsical that I can. Supporting other small businesses, artists, creators, and individuals.
The quality of my work will grow with me, and with more experience. Your support will keep me going, and helping more gain more knowledge in anything that I do.
I will take time for myself when I feel it is needed, because taking time for yourself can only make you stronger. Just as I hope you will take time for yourself as well. Together, let’s make dreams come true!
